I don't question the idea of upholding English as a universal language. I don't regard highly the dullish style in which English is presented for study.
Improving one's skill with a language isn't like launching a larger dome. A language isn't just a tool that you can learn to utilize with greater amounts of precision. A living language can not be partitioned from the philosophical currents of a society of which it is a description. A language isn't recited; it happens - and keeps happening as long as a circle of people keeps using it.
To make people recite English is to deprive them of its cultural context. A worthy educator must develop a technique for introducing it; the discerning pupil goes out to seek it.
A dictionary - properly used - can become an influential tool. A decent dictionary will describe a language based on a particular corpus, a set of written works of various scope and consistency. A corpus might contain everything from a book about literature to a bunch of slash fiction. I lost many a night laboring on my "unheroic" Fiction Corpus in order to form a unique genre of dictionary based on the ability of one man to tell a story in myriad forms. It is a labor of love and listening.
I have prepared a million words and I have broken them down, reshaping them - not merely to teach the English language but to promote the human spirit, and to coax that spirit or soul not just to recite but to happen.

Lots of people go on road trips. Not everybody criss-crosses Europe in 46 days. Especially not with a complete stranger.
Though as an artist I had been working on body acceptance since the start of my career, and as a one-time practicing figure model was used to being nude in a social setting, I had been left largely unexposed to the community of naturists and nudists working towards the same goal of promoting the human being. Visiting nude beaches and resorts along the East Coast and participating in events organized around New York by Young Naturists America, I was left hungry for more and had come to Europe to see things from their side of the pond. Margo was my introduction.
I considered myself young and able, and being American I often convinced myself I was more than able. She didn't feel quite so young. Having grown up in Poland, what was and is still considered by many to be a poor country, she had the added burden of not only being disadvantaged but having it held against her. The difference became palpable when I realized I couldn't even properly translate into Polish the very American word, "opportunity." A chance? Sure. An occasion? Why not? An opportunity? Not in the book.
6,000 miles. One car. One tent. We started learning how to listen. We started learning how to open up. We started cooperating. Even when we were angry, even when it was so difficult that it didn't seem like it would turn out well, we stuck it out. We completed the trip and we came back happy. We had beaten the devil on the road. Back home more devils were waiting to abuse us. More anger. More fear. More sadness. This time we were prepared. This time we had each other and we could harken back to the joy and the trust and the suprise that 6,000 miles had created. We could remember what it was like to live in one tent.
6,000 miles across Europe with a complete stranger
During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.
I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.
Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.
Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.

The way to understand a language is to categorize its elements. Each word belongs in a box and there only so many boxes.
You only need eight boxes or eight categories of words to understand English. At the highest level, you have what-words and who-words, how-words and why-words, where-words and when-words, whose-words and which-words.
What-words can be further categorized into the same eight boxes. Artifacts are the what-what-words. Persons and people are the who-what-words. Fuels are the how-what-words. Fetishes are the why-what-words. Places and times, the where and when-what-words respectively. Acts are whose-what-words and Kinds are the which-what-words.
These linguistic categories relate to the seven categories of culture, which in turn I organize according to day of the week.
Just as Sunday can both start the week and end the week, Sunday or Victory Day (a day for artists) is related to both which-words and whose-words, or kinds and acts.
Monday or Labor Day (a day for capitalism) represents the how, or a fuel.
Tuesday or Family Day or Prayers Day (a day for love) represents the what, an artifact.
Wednesday or Assembly Day or Constitution Day (a day for law and order) represents the where, or place.
Thursday or Greenery or Science or Earth Day (a day to study movement) represents the when, or time.
Friday or Children's Day (a day to educate) represents the the who, or people.
Saturday or Armed Forces of Democracy Day (a day for hope and strength) represents the why, or fetishes.

An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.
Jesus was always ready to drink, as long as 'Uncle' were going to pay for it. Somehow, his uncle had money for all kinds of rectified spirits even though his own family could barely afford to eat. Jesus himself was scraping up dirt. His father was a goddamned heroin addict; now that his bastard uncle was an alcoholic liar too deep in debt to keep his stores open, Jesus had no steady source of cash. With fewer and fewer books to read, Jesus had more and more time to waste. He begged his uncle to let him reopen at least one store.
Terrorism was also big. The very same year that Jesus's mother died, some crazy American blew up a U.S. government space station, killing one hundred and sixty-nine people. Two years earlier, some crazy pirate tried to blow up the Interplanetary Trade Center. Six people died; a thousand more were injured. He claimed his intention was to kill as many as two hundred and fifty thousand Americans by dislodging one of the two great modules that - back in those days - made up the bulk of the orbiting Center. Four years later, the U.S. government claimed that it was A-ron workers that had organized a bomb attack on one of their military bases in outer space the previous year, which had killed a total of nineteen soldiers, wounding more than five hundred.
A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.
You must remember that story; it's so beautiful. I suppose she may have told it more than once - I can't remember. But I do know she told us that night. Right after she finished, we all started laughing; then we started laughing even more, because Father had just walked into the room with Albert. They told us that the Christkindl had just flown by, et cetera, et cetera, even though none of us were young enough to believe it - we could still appreciate it; after all, it meant it was time to open presents.
It's just that I'm afraid you're spending too much quality time at Indiana's house. An address like Holland Park may not be enough to mesmerize you, but it's certainly enough to distract you and leave you susceptible to other, more corrupting influences. Her face was older, thought Ferrari. She had gained weight. Her breasts were bottoming out with age. A small scar graced her upper lip. If anything, she was even more beautiful than he remembered. Her nipples were thick like short cinnamon sticks. There was no doubt they would taste just as sweet.
A real play. With drama in it. Talk fast. It takes two hours. Set in a guest house. In a small community. After a murder. Lots of suspicion. The characters learn to listen to each other. It's funny.
FLETCHER: I lost my virginity to a married woman. Her husband was abroad - had been for several months. She did plan on joining him, but she loved sex - she admitted it - more than she loved her husband. Then again, I didn't really know the man. Maybe he was the same way. Maybe he was a scoundrel. Some women are just crazy. I was doing work on her balcony at the time. She would undress in front of me through the window. She even let me watch her masturbate. I was around eighteen years old. She was forty. I had no idea what to do. I couldn't do anything, anyway. I was surrounded by my crewmates. When we finished, we packed up and we left. I didn't see her for several weeks. In due course, we bumped into each other at one of the local pubs. She asked me how I was doing. I told her I was fine. I bought her a few drinks. She asked me to take her home. I did. On her front porch, as she was removing her keys from her pocket, she dropped something.

Indiana's unsolicited effort to inform, her continuous concern for speaking, that pressing aural nightmare which persists even after you've pledged to avoid its acoustical tyranny, that vocal plying, that musical stream of input once you've gotten used to it, that involuntary sickness betrayed something deliberately hushed, waiting in the dark, reaching for somebody's arm, whispering its presence as she punctuated her sentences, turning her head to stare vacantly past a shoulder for a moment to catch her breath, before turning once more to speak. It seemed like the panic of an animal who knows it's about to be eaten. It was tinged with a growing sense of resignation.
I hate the English language. It's too curt. Rape. Suck. Lick. Bitch. Fuck. You. If the words had more syllables they wouldn't be so forceful. Deflowerment. Inhalation. Female Dog. Copulating. Those words don't inflame people's passions.
Adam was the Patroclus to Steve O's Achilles. In more ways than Steve O realized. A fellow classmate and womanizer had asked Steve O to his face one day, "You know that guy's gay, right?" Steve O had been incredulous. With the image of Adam and the redhead scarred into his mind, he adamantly defended his friend's womanizing skills. "You have no idea what you're talking about," Steve O had said, viscerally upset.

I was ashamed of my mother. I wish I could say I grew out of it. I didn't. I got more ashamed of her as I grew older. It was partly my own fault. I kept my mother hidden so I wouldn't have to face questions about her. I didn't have the answers. I didn't know with absolute certainty which country she was from. I didn't want people to know what happened to her in London. I didn't want them finding out what she was doing in the United States. It was mostly cleaning houses. Sometimes she baked stuff for events in the Ukrainiain-American community. Great success.
To promote democracy, the strong must empty themselves of their strength. The weak must be granted the opportunity to grow strong. We cannot force the end of patriarchy. To do so simply perpetuates feudalism under a different name.
