Understanding the world from all angles...

Michal refuses to study the notion of complementing his unimposing Fiction Corpus with a book about artwork; cites fatigueDictionary icon

I think highly of the soundness of harnessing English as an international language for the world. I do doubt the certifiably commonplace system by which the English tongue is taught.Pointer

Beefing up a person's skillfulness with a language isn't like pioneering a wider canal. A language - a spoken language - is not merely a tool that you can learn to exploit with a greater amount of precision. A common tongue cannot be split from the philosophical currents of a recognized nation of which it is a description. A language isn't recited; it happens - and keeps happening as long as a circle of people keeps using it.

Teaching a pupil to recite English is to cheat her out of its cultural context. A good teacher has to develop a plan for introducing it; the wisest pupil ventures out to seek it.

A dictionary can be an influential tool. The best dictionaries define a language based on a particular corpus, a set of written language of varying size and consistency. Such a corpus might include anything from a book about literature to many examples of fiction. I suffered many a sleepless night forging my "tremendous" Fiction Corpus in order to form a unique type of dictionary based on the ability of one man to tell a story in myriad forms. It is a labor of love and listening.

I have strung together a million words and I have evaluated them, reformulating them - not simply to teach American vocabulary but to describe the human spirit, and to encourage that spirit or soul not just to recite but to happen.

Help Replace Passive-aggressive behavior With Truth in ArtOne of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

Strength and dignity are her clothing...

Author's Note: I have been enjoined from sharing the details of my true romance adventure until such time that the other party is prepared to present her perspective on the affair arrangement...Pointer

Europe, the summer of 2011. Twelve countries. 46 days. One car. One tent. One man. One woman he's just met.

Though as an artist I had been working on body acceptance since the start of my career, and as a one-time practicing figure model was used to being nude in a social setting, I had been left largely unexposed to the community of naturists and nudists working towards the same goal of promoting the human being. Visiting nude beaches and resorts along the East Coast and participating in events organized around New York by Young Naturists America, I was left hungry for more and had come to Europe to see things from their side of the pond. Margo was my introduction.

I was American. Freshly arrived in Europe and the new owner of a '97 Ford Escort made in Germany. The only thing I had to complain about was the fact that the owner's manual was in German. She was from Poland, and a German-language owner's manual for a car bought in Poland wasn't the only thing she had to complain about. Something as small as that didn't even register.

I've never been married. I've never been divorced. I've never had kids. I've never lost my kids. That doesn't mean I can't try to understand somebody who has. By listening to Margo during our trip across Europe I started to consider her needs as if they were my own. I may not have been in a position to satisfy all of those needs, but I was able to shut up and put my own needs aside if I had to for at least 6,000 miles. We all need to be listened to and it is the one need that we all have a duty to satisfy. When somebody prays to another human, as a human you have a duty to listen. Humanity needs to start teaching itself that skill.

One of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.

I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.

Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.

Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.

Michal's Dictionary:
More People

The way to understand a language is to categorize its elements. Each word belongs in a box and there only so many boxes.

You only need eight boxes or eight categories of words to understand English. At the highest level, you have what-words and who-words, how-words and why-words, where-words and when-words, whose-words and which-words.

What-words can be further categorized into the same eight boxes. Artifacts are the what-what-words. Persons and people are the who-what-words. Fuels are the how-what-words. Fetishes are the why-what-words. Places and times, the where and when-what-words respectively. Acts are whose-what-words and Kinds are the which-what-words.

These linguistic categories relate to the seven categories of culture, which in turn I organize according to day of the week.

Just as Sunday can both start the week and end the week, Sunday or Victory Day (a day for artists) is related to both which-words and whose-words, or kinds and acts.

Monday or Labor Day (a day for capitalism) represents the how, or a fuel.

Tuesday or Family Day or Prayers Day (a day for love) represents the what, an artifact.

Wednesday or Assembly Day or Constitution Day (a day for law and order) represents the where, or place.

Thursday or Greenery or Science or Earth Day (a day to study movement) represents the when, or time.

Friday or Children's Day (a day to educate) represents the the who, or people.

Saturday or Armed Forces of Democracy Day (a day for hope and strength) represents the why, or fetishes.

Usage of People in The Gospel of Jesus H.

A picture of the planet Mars

An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.

"Yes: this is the one you'd be working in, Jesus. The storefront's on the other side. Not many people come in. It's pretty small - not a very good location, either. It's a block away from the main road, but there's nothing else around: nothing that would attract people. I keep it closed most of the time; the other stores are more important: I use this one mostly for storage. Local people buy stockings: that's about it."

Verse 177 from the chapter called Adolescence

As it was, very few rich people came inside. In fact, the only rich people Jesus ever saw were grizzly, young men. They weren't dressed like it, but they must have been Capitalists: you could tell by the wads of cash they carried. They only bought silk stockings - not individually, but in specially marked boxes, labeled 'premium silk,' made to order and carefully prepared by Jesus's uncle in the back room. They were always picked up at specific times. If anyone else tried to buy silk stockings at some random time that was not previously designated, Jesus was not allowed to sell them. In fact, if anyone asked, they were always out of stock, even if silk stockings were lying around in heaps in the back room. Even if regular silk-stocking customers came and asked for 'premium silk,' Jesus was not allowed to take orders - presumably, his uncle took them. This was not something Jesus ever actually witnessed; nor did he ever actually see his uncle preparing silk-stocking boxes: he only sold them at specifically scheduled times to specifically scheduled people - "nobody else, God forbid," his uncle would often repeat.

"Why not?" asked Jesus.

Verses 183-184 from the chapter called Adolescence

"How did it come back?"

"Who knows? But it always did, like a bad smell."

"What about his claws?"

"They were mist."

"Could they hurt you?"

"No: they would dissipate. But don't forget: his paws were real. They could hit you in the face - and the Lonely Planet must've been strong: he was the fastest thing on four legs - or, four paws, as the case was. He was so fast, he could outrun his own body - swear to God: if you were lucky enough to see him running by, you would see his tail was bigger by about six or seven feet: he would look hungry, 'cause he was thin - but that was just his body trying to catch up, like a comet - that's what people said his name was, before he died."

Verses 158-163 from the chapter called Childhood

Oh, that Moochka was a lady alright: if you treated her well, she would treat you back. Your father had her wrapped around his little finger: he could whistle from a hundred meters - farther, if he were upwind - and she would come, like a dog. People were amazed; nobody else could do it: she wouldn't pay attention. When time for milking came around, your father would enter the cowshed, whistle, and Moochka would turn around. First, she would have to lick his hand. Then, he would give her a whole ear of corn, pat her on the head, and, most important of all, sweep her with a broom, from head to tail, right along her back, as gently as possible. Then, sidestepping, she was by the wall, ready for action.

Verse 142 from the chapter called Childhood

Usage of People in Sex for Children

A drawing of a man between a woman's legs in front of another man in a hospital bed

A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.

On the other hand, I must not forget that I am sitting at the end of the private ward: most of the nearby patients are very rich people; they are probably educated; I'm sure that among them there is more than one pretender to a laurel crown; and together, they form a rather appreciative literary audience.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 1, The First Day, Part 1, Victory & Calendar Reform, Section 3, Wondering, Paragraph 1, Clause 1

Perhaps I will read them your letter and ask for each one's opinion. Ah, but they might scoff: they may be grumpy, rich people - who knows? They may be philistines. Nowadays, money can only signify itself, and the fact that one is wealthy means only that one possesses a lot of money; no other conclusion can be logically drawn.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 1, The First Day, Part 1, Victory & Calendar Reform, Section 3, Wondering, Paragraph 1, Clauses 2-5

INDIE: You don't care for the people's opium?

– Title 2, Regarding the Romaniac, Part 1, Section 27, Penetration, Paragraph 110

But if one sincerely values natural procreation, that inferiority is a simple fact. It has nothing to do with stereotypes; it has nothing to do with deeming people unworthy of respect; it doesn't even have anything to do with immorality. Those couples are simply incapable of a certain type of intercourse, and consequently, they are prevented from enjoying the fruits of that intercourse. They are capable of other types of intercourse; but it doesn't matter whether one find those acts repugnant or not. Those acts are not inferior because they are unnatural, but because they are acts of natural frustration.

– Title 2, Regarding the Romaniac, Part 1, Section 18, The Role of the Judicious Mind, Paragraph 6, Clauses 5-10

Junior seized those hands. He gazed into the woman's eyes. He whispered, "Don't you know?" Nyota shook her head. Junior smiled. He jerked his head toward the sky. Nyota looked up. A blimp was passing over the roof of the grandstand.

"That's why it's so expensive," remarked Debbie. "You're not expected to use it the way you would use a regular bag."

"If you're rich, you don't need a regular bag. That's the idea. When you make something impractical, all the rich people buy it to show off how impractical they can be."

Junior realized he needed to join the conversation quickly. Harry Connick wouldn't be of any help. He was quietly nursing his finger next to his wife.

I took it to get into my landlady's panties. I'm a terrible human being. There have been worse than me - like the person who stabbed that poor girl sixty-two times: the first murderer this island has had to fear in more than one hundred and fifty years. Both suspect and victim were like me: alien to this place. Why did we come? What did we hope to find? Peace? We scared her off. Happiness? Satisfaction? Understanding? Why here? Why do we trespass on other people's land? It stands in our way - but of what? There's nothing beyond what's right in front of us at any given time. There's no way of knowing that unless you trespass. All that one can hope to do is make as little damage as possible along the way. We are all criminals, whether we like it or not. Though some of us are big and some of us small, we are all cut from the same dough. That's not the easiest thing to believe when one man robs or kills another man. What was my crime? Why am I punished? Why am I the only one who's alone? Or is it just my imagination? Are there others out there who can see me? Who know me? Who can feel my pain? If there are, I salute you. I would kiss you if I could. I can't, so I just say, 'Thank you.'

Usage of People in Miscellaneous Dingbats

The title of the book at the end of a string of miscellaneous dingbats

A story book full of short fiction stories. An interesting bedtime mystery. A fairy tale. Science fiction romance. Adult life. Uninspiring gay fiction. Horror.

Steve and I were joined by Steve's friend Peter. This was the first time I was meeting Peter. It turned out to be the last. Peter seemed nice. A lot of people seem nice. The problem was not his personality. He was an idiot.

– from “Woodstock,” a life story based on something that actually happened, namely to the author

Captain Orbitz came from a long line of distinguished galactic luminaries. His father and his brother had been martyred in a great battle against the forces of Scutum-Centauris. His grandfather was a delagate to the Grand Orion Council from the planet Vancouver. His lineage went all the way to one of the leaders of the original humanoid slave revolt. He was sacrosanct. When his name was red-flagged at the security bureau it was summarily dismissed as an error. It was red-flagged again. And again. Somebody by the name of Rishi Keplar Jorgen Tycho Kalvinicus Orbitz was having associations with the outlawed Wiki-en Society. People went crazy. They wanted him arrested. They wanted him interrogated. There was only one problem. Orbitz was on assignment. He was the second longest-serving courier in the Alliance. He was traversing a wormhole.

– from “The Death and Life of Captain Orbitz,” a science fiction romance inspired by Stanislaw Lem, if you know who that is

Nobody had to be bribed. There was no brain-washing. To all those people who changed their minds. You can't take it back. You can't say he's a hero one day and decide the next day you were wrong. That's not fair. Especially when nothing's changed. Except the fact that I'm not today's hero. I'm yesterday's hero. And the war is back on. That's why they curse me. Cause I'm not all-powerful. I'm not the one solution to all their problems. People are capricious.

– from “The Testament of Publio Orazio,” a horror story based on family values coming straight out of Roman mythology

The giant hill of stupidity was located five miles south of downtown East Farmville. Making it 5.1 miles from the new East Farmville post office. It was created under the local dictatorship of postmaster Steve the Second. Nobody blamed him personally for it. At least not in front of his face. Not that everybody lost on the deal. Just the rural carriers as usual.

– from “Wrong Again,” a success story that represents the real lives of certain people, though the details are fictional

We were holy. That's another thing people don't realize about me. They think I'm some kind of scumbag without religion. That's phony. I pray. You know, I go to church. It's kind of hard not to in this country. But it can be done. It can be avoided. But I don't. Just cause, you know, I deal in dope and prostitution and, you know, cigarette smuggling doesn't mean I can't go to church. Or I shouldn't go. I have a right to believe.

– from “The Testament of Publio Orazio,” a horror story without much blood or gore coming straight out of Roman mythology

Are you a eunuch?

The art show that defies abuse

St. Sebastian

Wall art symbolizing strength and protest

St. Sebastian was a member of the Roman Emperor's praetorian guard who had the audacity to teach Christian values while on the job. I think active duty American military men and women who don't vote or who don't publicly express a political opinion because of the uniform are either being idiotic or are being cowed by the threat of punishment from a superior. Either way, they're eunuchs. My purpose in creating the St. Sebastian Series is to put the flesh and face of the true soldier front and center. The good soldier puts his mission ahead of himself. He often ends up dead. The true soldier knows a bad mission when he sees one and he isn't afraid to say it. Saint Sebastian was not a cow, despite what clever people would have you believe. Saint Sebastian is a patron saint for all protestors who face the arrows of the mob for speaking out.
